The Judicial Review of the crap Grainger Plan for the Wards Corner site began today in the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand.
The hearing continues on Wednesday, after which we should have a decision maybe soon, maybe in a few weeks.
It’s all on precedent and points of law. Many trees have died to save us. It felt like an hour was spent today on the crucial difference between ‘having due regard’ and ‘having regard’ to some information. Then another hour on ‘predisposition’ vs ‘predetermination’.
Late extra – the case has run over to the evening. Verdict hoped for in two to three weeks.

Euro elections and some local councils: 6.6% of those who voted fell for the bnp line. And the Labour Party is at its lowest for 100 years. But I have to remember this feeling from 1979 when the Tories swept in. It may have taken 18 years to get back into Downing Street, but meanwhile local politics was where it was at, with truly radical and (oh please) irreversible changes happening at Town Hall level – all those equalities issues that are now orsdinary, came through the shifting democracies in local government.
When we arrived at work that 1979 day, the sense of doom prevailed. But older-and-wiser Liz Cooper – where are you Liz? – snapped at us, get over this wallowing. This should bring us to our feet, not to our knees. I’m trying.
