From that b’day visit to Ally Pally and their expensive but satisfying garden shop.
The beginning of my own stand of birches
concentrated in one pot so far – multistemmed Betula jacquemontii
Cyclamens of unreal poshness
as well as the ordinary red ones
a cabbage to keep the snails happy
and old favourite, Michaelmas Daisies
which have appeared from nowhere, and always remind me of my grandparents’ garden.
This is the Cotinus – Smoke Bush – in my front yard. It never stops moving, whenever i look up from this computer it’s waving at me.
Still working on how to get the smoke blossoms, which grow on last year’s wood – I have to keep cutting it back as it grows so fast and pokes people walking past. Maybe next spring I’ll cut it right back to ground level and wait 2 years for flowers.
