Shard in Fog

I noticed last week from a train at London Bridge, that the viewing platform on the megalithic Shard, 1000 feet of mostly redundant glass owned by Qatari superbillionaires, would be a bit useless on days like that one when the top third is submerged in fog/cloud.  It’s the latest concrete bit of willy-waggling, at 95 storeys it’s this week’s tallest building in the EU.

Foggy Shard

These thoughts are thrown into new relief today by a horrible helicopter crash a mile away along the river at Vauxhall, where a ‘copter hit a crane in similar fog – that was 770 feet high, servicing a new 23-storey building.

Maybe it’s time to hit the Pause button on human evolution.
