Another honoured visitor to Seven Sisters market

Laura Alvarez came to the indoor market at Seven Sisters on Friday 16th December. She heard how the Latin American-majority market is threatened by a Compulsory Purchase Order issued by Haringey Council to enable developer Grainger to force sale of properties and demolish the Wards Corner block including the market.

Ms Alvarez, who is Mexican and was formerly a human rights lawyer in Mexico, is married to Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

A crowdfunder appeal has been launched to raise legal fees to challenge the CPO.  There is no Legal Aid for objectors to CPO’s, despite Grainger being the UK’s largest listed specialist residential landlord with assets of £2.6bn.
